All of the excuses in the world will never hold back a river that decides to flow. Dams falter, levees break and the water returns to its path because of the sheer force and determination of the water – not because of the structures trying to force its path. The only thing that holds a river in its place is the river.
Today – just this moment – the dam broke and the water began to flow.
I saw my life from a new perspective – the eyes of someone that had not yet be told it has never happened that way. I was there to mentor her, but she ended up inspiring me instead. Funny how things often work that way. We think we are reaching out to help someone else when the reality is that God is reaching out in that moment to help us.
- take one step and see where that step leads. A dam comes crumbling down with the smallest hole making the start. Make a hole by making a move.
- encourage another. Encouraging words have a way of compounding and then returning to pour out in an abundance that can never be planned or fully expected.
- ignore the squirrels. Anything that does not advance the cause will hinder the cause. Review and remove the distractions. Focused energy has a way of moving mountains.
- build up momentum. Play off of a win so that you can advance to the next level. Never settle into complacency from that win. Complacency kills inspiration. Pick up the pace when you have the momentum to continue driving you forward. Use the energy to increase the flow.
There will always be time to settle – why not take this moment to take a charge instead. Be bold. Get moving. And watch as the river flows with a force that you only dreamed possible.
