You have enough time to get everything done you need to get done. The key is to know how you are investing your time and to make sure you are investing that time into what you need to get done.
We all have the same amount of time. We all get 24 hours every day. Some of us may use a few more for sleep, or meals, or entertainment. No matter how the time gets gone, we all still start with the same 24 hours.
“But if I only had more time.”
Most of us would like more time. The government things we want more time so much that it steals an hour from our morning in the Spring and tacks it on to the end of the day in an attempt to convince us we have more time.
We still have the same 24 hours.
Instead of wishing for more time, take a few days to do a time audit on your existing time. You may discover you have more time than you realized.
Take a Time Audit
- You will need a small notebook or tablet to keep a running list of what you are doing.
- For the next three to seven days keep a record of everything you do. Include the five minutes you used to go to the ATM, the eight hours you used for sleep, and even the one your used for carline (seven is best because we usually have a little different schedule on different days of the week).
Make a list of all the activities you engaged in during the audit.
Total up how much time you used for each activity and divide by the number of days of your time audit.
Review how you are using the 24 hours you are given each day.
Determine how to make the changes you can to get where you want to be.
Most of the time we need is being wasted on things that don’t matter or that aren’t the things we know we need to be doing. By taking a few days to do a full-time audit, you can discover where time is escaping and then put it to better use.
How are you using your time?
