You have to choose to find the light so you can see past the hopeless. A little light will spark the seed of hope to grow faith. Faith will give you all you need to keep going and will even move the mountains trying to stand in your way.
Choose hope by finding the light.

Find the Light to See Past Hopeless
“You don’t listen.”
His words weren’t harsh. His voice wasn’t raised. But those words were just enough to suck up the last amount of hope I had growing for the day.
I collapsed in tears. What else can you do when all you had to give is now gone.
Nothing hurts more than trying to take a step without hope.
Something else happens when hope departs. Things rush in to fill the void. Anger and despair usually lead the charge.
The mountain of darkness grows.
All because words crushed the spark of hope.
The worst part of it all is that we never know when someone is holding on to their last spark of hope. The words we issue forth could darken hope just a little or it could crush hope altogether.
“Hurting people hurt people.” It doesn’t make it easier to take but it can help you protect the remaining spark of hope in your life.
Today, clouds are dancing across the sun. Each time, the field darkens and then light runs across the field to the window where I sit. I’m in the corner of the house, so sunlight never quite makes it to me, but my heart feels the warmth that comes from the sun chasing away the dark.
Watching the scene play out almost makes me smile and an almost-smile is much further along than I was this time yesterday – when hope had shattered around my feet. The almost-smile stirs those shattered pieces and hope once again has a chance.
Anger and despair do not give up their place easily. Like the next cloud that comes along, they attempt to chase off hope. The trick is to look beyond the shadow of doubt and see the sun coming again.
How to See Past Hopeless
Hopeless will hit you even before you know it’s coming. You’ll be doing along getting along – maybe just barely, but still moving – and then you will be crushed in the dark. When you hit that bottom you have to have a way to claw your way back out. You have to have a path that lets you see past hopeless so you can get back to growing hope.
- Be honest about hope. Take time each day to evaluate your level of hope and to consider what elements are affecting how hope is growing.
- Stop repeating the hopeless moments. Where you focus will determine where you step (or where you sink). If you focus on the waves and repeat the mantra of the destructive force then you will find yourself under the waves.
- Look for the light. It doesn’t have to be a big light to push away a big dark. Even a little light stands strong in the darkest of nights.
With a little hope, it all becomes possible because hope grows up faith (and even a tiny amount of faith is enough faith to move mountains). The enemy works hard to crush your hope because a heart without hope will crumble.
Hope can be fragile. The more it’s hit and the more it’s attacked, the more fragile it can be. The last hit can send hope shattering to the floor.
Find your way to ignite a spark of hope and then dare to be the spark of hope in the hearts you encounter.
What is one way you spark hope?
Struggling for the Focus to Hope?
Focus makes a difference. A solid focus will keep you walking through the waves instead of giving in to their crashing force.
If you are struggling to find your focus and hold tight to hope, let’s talk.
As a focus coach, I encourage you to understand your uniqueness and find your way to stand in the hope that comes with that understanding.
Challenge for Intentional Actions
See Past Hopeless
Be honest about hope.
Stop repeating the hopeless.
Look for the light.
The more you invest in finding the light the more you spark hope. The more you spark hope the easier it becomes to shed the hopeless moments that sneak up and trip up your pursuit of purpose.
Quote of the Day
“Be invested in positive little bits to grow up hope.” – Kathryn Lang
It only takes a little bit of light to break through the darkness. It only takes a little bit of water to push through the wall. It only takes a little bit of a moment to create your momentum.
Invest in the little bits because they add up to your big possibilities.

We are taught to care for the temple, but what does it mean when we realize the temple of God is actually you?
What are you doing to intentionally care for the temple?

In Philippians 4:14 we are told to do all things without murmuring, grumbling, or complaining . . . ALL THINGS.
