I Hate Blogger

There are thousands of great blogs out there and some of them are hosted on Blogger. I am sure that it is a great format, but I was brought into the blogging world with WordPress and I’ve never strayed.

Visiting and commenting on other blogs is an important part of building my own website. They have told me that. All of the experts I have read say to network by commenting on other blogs. If it’s a Word press blog them I’m fine. Some Blogger blogs will even allow me to comment. But there are so many Blogger blogs out there that require me to have a blogger account and I don’t. It won’t let me comment without one.

Even my own sister in law requires it for me to visit the family website.

Communicating with other bloggers has to be easier than it is being made out to be. I shouldn’t have to jump through so many hoops. The worst part is that I usually don’t know about the hoops until I have already spent the time to write out my comment. It’s frustrating, aggravating and the only reason that I hate Blogger.

It is hard enough to build an online business with out running into these types of obstacles. If anyone out there can tell me how to circumvent the Blogger blog user requirements then I would be forever grateful.

For now, I will work on building my own readership by continuing to surf the internet, comment on blogs and forums and writing about what I see while I’m surfing around. Who knew that becoming a successful online writer would require so much reading, visiting, and chit chat?

Truth be told, I love it – just don’t tell my husband because he thinks what I’m doing is hard work.

  • Kathryn,

Although I am a Blogger blogger, I have to agree. As someone who uses the Blogger platform, I’ve even had problems posting comments on other Blogger blogs which is really weird and FRUSTRATING. There are several different blog paltforms being used: Blogger, WordPress, Type Pad. You’d think there be an easier way for everyone to interact with ease…

As a non-tech-savvy writer, I automatically turned to Blogger thinking WordPress was too complicated for me. Now I’m seriously contemplating moving my blog to a self-hosted WordPress platform (I already have the domain name ready) as I understand many online entreprenuers don’t take Blogger as seriously as WordPress. Well, you live and learn.

I want you to know I greatly appreciate the time and effort I know you have spent to leave comments on my blog.:)

    • Kimberly – And thank YOU for commenting on my blog ;). Share the love – that’s what I say.

As for the Blogger issue – I try not to rant very often because I’m all about thinking positive. It was only after several attempts at commenting on blogs that I had to have a release ;).

  • Hi Kathryn –

As you know, I’m on Blogger. I have several folks commenting on my blog, who are also on Blogger. For some unknown reason, they have a different type of comment format. I’ve yet to figure out how to leave a comment for them. Very frustrating.

    Blessings,
    Susan 🙂

  • I was on Word Press for a while. It frustrated me. I could never get into my account. I never had anyone comment. I wasn’t sure if anyone was reading my thoughts. Then I received a message that the host was doing away with the site due to a lot of “spam” postings.

  • Just had to share this from Facebook today after reading your last sentence:
Liz Curtis Higgs thinks Ernest Hemingway was talking about Facebook (as well as letter writing) when he said, “It’s such a swell way to keep from working and yet feel you’ve done something.”

    • Hey Gail – I know exactly what you mean. There are days when checking facebook, twitter and emails is enough to keep me busy all day. I just keep telling myself that they are all part of my overall platform and I feel a little better at the end of the day. 😀
