All About Kathryn

This is the very first entry for this website. Learn more about Kathryn HERE

I’m Kathryn and you have found your way to my blog. Thank you, by the way!

I grew up trying to force the world to see things my way. It was always about getting others to change. Then I discovered that the only thing I could actually change was Me. It was a shock to my system and required a complete overhaul of how I did most everything.

First I had to learn to watch my mouth and not be so sarcastic. Then I had to learn that things DIDN’T have to go my way all the time. Then it was all about submission (but I don’t want to talk about it ๐Ÿ˜‰ ). And the list just keeps on going.

The struggle continues today. Some days I win. Some days I just have to make it through so I can start over. You never know which way it’s going to go and I always hope for the best and strive for greatness.

Kathryn’s Family

My husband and I have been married for almost 14 years. We met when I was only 12, but had to go through some trials and tribulations before we finally got back together and got married when I was 23. He truly is my first love!

We have three boys, the oldest two are two years apart and the youngest is seven years below them (Proof positive that God does have a sense of humor). We would love to add to the brood through adoption in the future.

Finding Your true family

Pets were always everywhere. At one point we had two indoor cats, three outdoor dogs, and one outdoor cat. The kids were always clamoring for more, but I hit my limit.

Our Home

We live in the woods – and I mean coyotes, beavers, eagles, possums, and even river otters kind of woods. It’s a wonderful place for the kids to run and play. In the summer, there is a creek where they swim and fish. We are secluded enough to feel like pioneers but close enough to town to run in for milk if we need to.

Day to Day

We homeschool the kids, and even the baby does school time. Every morning we get up and work together to clean the house. Sometimes the older boys prepare breakfast (with mom’s help and supervision). We all sit together for breakfast and start every morning by putting on the Armor of God. After cleaning up from breakfast it’s time for school for the boys and work for mom. Sometimes I even get some of that work done.

The boys are free to roam and play once they finish their school work. Some days its adventure time and other days the whole family goes out to jump on the trampoline or throw the ball.

Admittedly, all days don’t run this smooth. There are those days that begin and end in complete chaos, but I try not to remember them.

This Blog

Writing has always been a passion of mine, and as early as the third grade I wanted to make writing my life. It’s taken a few detours to get back on track, but I’m finally seeing the dream work its way into reality.

This blog is my way of paying back to others all that I have learned. It’s also a great place to hone my craft. The goal is to show you the struggles that I (dragging my family along with me) encountered and hopefully help you avoid them – or at the very least guide you to overcoming.
