Press On to Avoid the Quit
Avoid the quit by continuing the journey. It’s a choice, and the only choice if you are going to take flight into your possibilities.
My friend told me to invest in one more time. Take one more step. Do one little bit more. He added to it with the declaration that I needed to press on -which happens to be one of my go-to motivational quotes.
Just press on because nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. One this is for certain, if you quit, youβll never get there.
#QuoteoftheDay
I have BIG DREAMS. I have deep passions stirring in my heart. I canβt quit. They are too important.
Know What Causes the Quit
I made a list of things to do and proudly displayed the list to my family (and by family I mean my husband β my kids were still small, so I knew they wouldnβt be much help in the endeavor).
My husband looked over the list, looked at me, and then walked away. I figured he jumped right into the tasks requested of him. I joined in the efforts and tackled tasks of my own.
Hours later, I found my husband down at his dadβs watching sports β and it was only random sports and not the ones I was used to him watching.
It wasnβt the first time I had that happen. He often looked at my list and walked away. It was years later before he explained how much a large list overwhelmed him. βItβs so much that I donβt know how to start, so I just donβt start.β
You quit when you donβt start.
If something seems to be too much or too confusing, we can get locked into our βcomfort zone.β The overwhelm defuses our motivation.
I watched a friend do a job because she inherited the business. βI donβt like it, but itβs my responsibility now.β I donβt think I ever saw her enjoying the job. She struggled to enjoy because it wasnβt hers to start with.
She attended an event with me and took several classes in areas where she had expressed interest. By the end of the weekend, she lit up talking about what she had learned. It was obvious that what she learned had aligned with her heart.
When I suggested a change, her lights dimmed again. βI have the business to work. Maybe one day Iβll be able to do something I love because of the work Iβm doing.β She wouldnβt take a chance with this new direction because she was stuck in the rut of someone elseβs design.
You quit when you choose stuck.
If you arenβt enjoying the journey then itβs time to change rides. If you choose to stay in stuck then you will never become all you were designed to be.
I made an announcement declaring my direction. βI will get it done.β I moved forward because people were watching β some counting on me to get it done and others crossing their fingers and hoping Iβd fall.
I made up a system to making the going easier, but more things piled up around me. βJust stop already.β I didnβt want to quit. I didnβt want to stop. But I was getting exhausted.
My life moved in a new direction and the whole world seemed to shift under me. But I believed in what I was doing. I was determined not to give others the satisfaction of seeing me quit. I pushed on despite the difficulties multiplying through all the changes.
I refused to let things hinder my direction. I got so blindly focused on doing what I had declared that I couldnβt see options or possibilities outside of it. I ended up running into a roadblock that almost derailed my whole family.
You quit when you ignore the pivot.
You need to be focused on your BIG DREAMS and not let that focus dim, but you also have to be flexible in the focus so that you can pivot when necessary. Develop focused flexibility so you can keep going.
Donβt quit. When you have a passion and a focus on purpose, you have to keep going. Refuse to stop believing in your unique design. Dare to be so determined that you donβt quit.
Press On Through the Excuses
If you are going to avoid the quit, you have to dare to be extraordinary. The world is full of ordinary and basic. When you are attempting to step into your unique design, the world will try to put you in a box of ordinary and basic. Living your place in purpose requires radical and intentional steps that will push out far outside of ordinary and basic.
Excuse: Itβs too big for me to deal with.
Truth: The giant isnβt the problem β no matter how big the giant. You arenβt the one fighting the battle. When you are walking in Godβs design for your life, He goes before you and He goes behind you. He takes care of the giants.
Excuse: I canβt let others see me fall.
Truth: Hiding is not the answer. When you put on a mask and hide from your possibilities, then you canβt be authentic in real in your pursuit of unique design.
Excuse: They told me I couldnβt so I canβt.
Truth: They donβt have the final say in your journey. They donβt even have the first say unless you choose to hand them all of your power by listening to them instead of listening to your heart.
There is always an excuse to not do what you are designed to do. There is always a way to get it done. You have to choose.
The world will do all it can to convince you to choose the excuses. It wants you to climb into one of its boxes and stay settled in the ordinary and expected.
Refuse their limits.
Be extraordinary.
Keep on going until you get there.
Have the courage to live your unique design and to press on to avoid the quit.

What does it take to press on through the quit?
Share your thoughts on what it means to avoid the quit.
Not following your heart makes your life shorter and less enjoyable. Why do so many people do that?
Definitely. I think we do it because if we follow our heart, we are completely responsible. If we choose a different direction then we have a premade excuse to blame others.
