Proverbs 31 Guide to a Calm Day

rainy-day1

The Proverbs 31 woman seems to have had it all together. Peace and calm were part of her every day. I can’t help but wonder if we are getting a picture of the good days and not any of the bad days (or should the off days).

Calm days are rare around my home even though I am trying to be like the Proverbs 31 woman. I do implement a lot of the Proverbs into my life, but life still manages to get in the way. Homeschooling three boys, working from home, having my husband work from home and having a FIL just across the garden can all make for an interesting day. The last few weeks have been wet and rainy – cabin fever has added to the chaos. I often wish the Proverbs 31 woman had spent a little more time telling me how to walk the Proverbs life and not just showing me what the Proverbs life looks like.

This morning I woke up a purpose to get back to the place where the Proverbs 31 days were the normal way and the off days are the rare ones. It is time for me to take back my home and my peace!

Taking Back the Proverbs 31 Days

    1. Make a list of all that needs to be done – I’m putting down everything from work to play – inside and out. No stone will be left unturned.

    2. Estimate a time – write out how long each task should (or probably will) take.

    3. Make a time line of the day – break down your day in an hour by hour list.

    4. Plug in all of those things that aren’t on the list (like nap time for the toddler and appointments for FIL to go to physical therapy).

    5. Fill out the hour by hour schedule.

Becoming the Proverbs 31 woman is a process that takes continually re-adjusting and changing the “normal” way of doing things in my life. This week it is all about focusing the schedule so that I can get the writing, the work and the home back on track.
