Quote of the Day – Desire for Riches – April 24 2017
Quote of the day for Monday, April 24, 2017
There is nothing wrong in wanting to get rich. The desire for riches is really the desire for a richer, fuller, and more abundant life; and that desire is praiseworthy.” – Wallace D. Wattles
“What do you really want?”
I thought about that question for a moment and the answer became clear. I want to make more money.
“Why?”
The next question stumped me for a moment. I had to think about why I wanted to make more money. The more I thought about the “why” of it, the more I began to understand that the desire for riches – this need to make more money.
My desire for riches grows up from a desire to be a blessing and a benefit to the people around me. I want to give to others and share with others. It comes from a need to have (and share) a fuller experience in the journey.
I can get there – to this place of abundant life – and it is not a pursuit to hide or condemn. If I want to be a benefit to others then I have to put myself in a position to be that benefit. That is why a desire like this is to be not only praised but pursued.
