Remember Today and Every Day . . . Love

“Your blood should still boil.”

The words were shared in regards to the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

My gut reaction involved tears instead of anger. Remembering back 17 years ago, it was tears that overwhelmed me.

I came home and talked to my son about that day. He was four years old. He still remembers the tears I shed.

The tears come even now, every time I think about it or see images or hear words that remind me of 9/11.

I don’t get angry. My heart hurts.

It hurts my heart that there are people out there that feel like actions like these will fix their own situation. It hurts my heart now that the spirit of unity, support, and encouragement all seem to have evaporated since that day 17 years ago.

We were one nation. We were THE United States of America. We were united.

How quickly we forget.

The amazing thing for me is that it’s not the children that weren’t around that have forgotten or dismissed the unity. It’s not even the children that were so young they couldn’t be expected to remember.

The people that have pushed it aside are the ones that were standing in line TOGETHER to give blood or packing the churches or crossing fences to hug their neighbors.

It hurts my heart.

I don’t have all the answers. Scratch that. I do have the answer. It is simple.

remember love

Love God. Through your love of God and in God, love others.

I don’t have to agree with you to love you. I don’t have to agree with you to listen to you. I don’t have to agree with you to respect you.

When love becomes the priority and love becomes the driving force then the world has to change. That’s what happened on September 11, 2001. Love came first. When love comes first then nothing, no circumstance or evil plot, NOTHING can hold back love.

Today and every day remember . . . LOVE!

Be blessed,
