Weekly Devotional May 14, 2017 – Miracles Don’t Mean Acceptance
They saw what he had done and all the people asked Jesus to leave because they were overwhelmed with fear. So Jesus got in the boat and returned.” – from Luke 8:37
My husband had to drive the tractor up the road to do some work in the front field. Along the way, he took a little time to cut the grass that had grown up in the ditches and along the road.
The next ay the neighbor called to complain because my husband had inadvertently mowed part of his yard. My husband calmly explained what he had done and why he had done it. The conversation ended with a stern warning from the neighbor of what would happen if my husband ever tried to “help” again.
Jesus came in and changed a man’s life. Not only did he change that man’s life, but the lives of all those who had to deal with in in one form or another.
The overwhelming response that Jesus received for this act of kindness was a cry for him to leave.
Even when we do something good for others, it does not mean others will appreciate the good.
