Oh My … I Prayed for This
I don’t try to be confrontational. . .
Okay, you can stop laughing now.
When I was younger, I craved the arguments and confrontation. I embraced the opportunity to prove others wrong – and the higher their authority, the better for me.
And then God.
I began leaning into God’s Word and I began trusting Him to handle it … most of the time.
There was that one time that I was talking to a board about something that happened to my son, and one of the men said, “Look here, little missy,” and I thought about introducing Him to Jesus personally – but that is a horse of a different color.
The point is, I began to understand that nobody wins arguments.
So when people post things that are inaccurate on their social media feeds, I just keep scrolling. Sometimes, I will send a direct message if I have documented proof that what was posted was inaccurate – but not often.
I’ve discovered that most people don’t want to learn and grow – they want to yell and blow …. hot air. “My opinion is valid and don’t confuse it with all of your facts.”
Today, I broke my rule.
And it all started several months back.
Every morning, I start my day in God’s Word. I am reading through the Bible with my husband, plus I do 7 readings on my own that will take me through the Bible twice (and the Psalms and Proverbs 12 times). And then I follow up with prayers that I have for my family, friends, and those who have asked me to pray for them.
Several months back, I began to pray for God to give me the opportunity to speak Jesus without worrying about the consequences.
This morning I woke up to a comment, and my prayer came to mind. “Oh my. I prayed for this.”
“Jesus spoke out against unjust religious systems.”
The implication was that Jesus came to fix the injustice of the government.
So I responded.
Not out of anger, or spite, or frustration.
Just Truth.
The simple Truth of God.
One Reason
“Jesus came for ONE reason – to stand in the gap between God and His lost children.”
I took a deep breath and hit send – because the person I responded to was not one who had been shown to be open to conversations.
“I have my opinion and don’t confuse my opinion with facts.”
I wondered if I would get my first block. I knew what I wrote didn’t align with the attitude behind what was originally shared. Still, it was the Truth.
The people of Jesus’s time expected a savior who would come and free them from the constraints of the government. Jesus came to free them from the constraints of sin that held them back from a relationship with God.
I Prayed for This Heart Rescue
It wasn’t a circumstantial rescue, but a heart rescue.
God doesn’t want us to do things we think is right. He wants us to be so invested in our relationship with Him that we don’t see anything other than Him.
It doesn’t make sense in this world.
It doesn’t make sense to this world.
It’s not supposed to.
From Hosea 6:6 – God says that He desires piety and love for Him over sacrifice; God wants us to have a knowledge of Him more than giving up burnt offerings.
From 1 Samuel 15:22 – Does the Lord delight in your sacrifices more than in obedience to His Voice?
From Micah 6 – God has shown you what is good and that is to walk in a loving relationship with Him.
God created us to be in relationship with Him. Jesus came to heal the gap between man and God.
It is ALL about relationship with God – first!
When I get my relationship with God right, the rest begins to work itself out.
I prayed for this because I want to be so bold in Jesus that the world no longer has a say in my journey.
#QuoteOfTheDay
When I walk in Jesus
nothing in the world
can make me stumble.
– Kathryn Lang

How bold would your walk be if you KNEW that nothing could make you stumble?
