You Need a Cheering Section: How to Find Your Superfans
You need a cheering section to get through this life. Sometimes you need a cheering section just to get up in the morning.
You’re chasing BIG DREAMS.
You’re leaning into your heartseed truth.
You’re showing up with boldness (even if some days it’s in bunny slippers and bedhead).
When you are pursuing your unique design and the world comes against you (which it does when you don’t conform) then it’s like trying to walk on ice against a headwind. It’s not easy, and it’s made all the more difficult when you are all alone.
You need people who believe you can and dare you to keep going until you do.
You need folks in the stands AND on the path, yelling “YOU GOT THIS!” as you round the next curve.
You need people who believe in your success—even when you forget how to believe in it yourself.
You need a stand full of super fans that see your heartseed for all of its amazingness.

Beware of Wolves
While you are seeking your cheering section, be wary and watchful for those wolves in sheep’s clothing.
You know the ones.
The “yes, but…” people.
The “I’m just being realistic” crowd.
The “you should do it this way” crew.
They can derail your focus faster than a squirrel on a sugar high.
They can ditch your drive quicker than a snow day in the south.
They can deflate your determination swifter than a bolt in your tire (and I can tell you from experience that happens fast – and yes, I said BOLT).
And if you’re not careful, their doubt, fear, or negativity can settle into your spirit like darkness on a spring morning after the government steals the dawn (Dawn Stealing Time – a.k.a Daylight Saving Time).
A lesson learned the hard way: Not everyone wants to see you win. Some will be in your face about their desire for you to fail. Others will stab you in the back. And more than a few will simply plot against you.

It’s why you need to build a cheering section that whole-heartedly believe in your unique design and your peculiar awesomeness.
Why You Need a Cheering Section
You weren’t meant to do this alone. We are called to be in relationships – to Love God and then through that Love to love others.
It’s ALL about relationships.
Having hearts that are passionate about you and your purpose
Keep you going when you want to quit
Challenge you when you want to coast
Celebrate you when you finally leap that next hurdle
5 Ways to Build a Purpose-Fueled Cheering Section
It’s said that you become like the five people you spend the most time with. So, who are you hanging out with and who are you letting in your cheering section?
When it comes to building a strong cheering section, there are several places you can look.
1. Supportive and Structured Small Groups
✨ Faith groups.
✨ Book studies.
✨ Business masterminds.
✨ Accountability pods.
✨ Bible brunches.
Whatever lane you’re running in—there’s a group that shares your rhythm.
BUT 👇
Make sure it’s a group aimed in the same direction as your purpose. You’re not just joining for social hour. You’re looking for cheerleaders, truth-speakers, and hope-lifters.
You want people who will say:
“You’re not crazy for dreaming that big.”
“You’re not wrong for doing it differently.”
“You’ve got this, and we’ve got you.”
2. Hire a Coach
Yes, YOU.
If NFL players have coaches… so can you.
A good coach will:
Call out your blind spots
Celebrate your progress
Feed your hope (eh-em . .. HOPESMITH)
And they won’t let you settle for playing small.
Investing in a coach is like hiring a personal purpose trainer.
You’ll grow faster, stronger, and more focused.

3. Mentoring Matters
🔥 Be a mentor.
🔥 Find a mentor.
🔥 Do both.
Why?
Because someone is always behind you, and someone is always ahead. Being mentored helps you grow up. Mentoring others helps you grow out. And when you’re doing both – you’re right in the sweet spot of encouragement + accountability. It’s a feedback loop of purpose.
4. Make Coffee More Than Caffeine
☕ Coffee chats.
🥐 Brunch buddies.
🚶♀️ Walk-and-talks.
These casual, consistent check-ins can become powerful anchors. Even without structure, there’s power in accountability.
Want to amp it up a little?
Share one win
Admit one struggle
Declare one next step
Simple.
Honest.
Effective.
You don’t have to call it accountability for it to be accountability.
5. Make Online a Power Move
Start a private group.
Post your weekly goals.
Share your little wins.
Online doesn’t mean impersonal.
I’ve built deep, powerful connections with people I’ve never met in person—because we showed up for each other with real talk and real commitment.
The power of the internet is reach.
The power of community is connection.
Combine both, and boom—you’ve got a cheering squad that spans the globe.
Find Your Cheering Section. Fuel Your Purpose.
You don’t need a stadium full of people.
You just need a few who believe big and love deep.
Start with one:
📌 Join a group.
📌 Message a coach (eh em . . . HOPESMITH).
📌 Reach out to a friend.
📌 Create your online pod.
📌 Invite someone for a 30-minute coffee and real talk.
Then do it again.
And again.
Until you’ve gathered a cheering section that will shout you across your next finish line.
You’ve got this.
Now go find your cheer section and be a part of one for someone else.
