Get In The Wheelbarrow – Learning to Believe Trust Obey
Get into the wheelbarrow.
#QuoteoftheDay
You show
what you believe
by the intentional actions
you take.
– Kathryn Lang

I felt it more than I heard it, but it was clear.
I’ve shared the story about the reporter who went to do a story on the acrobat who was going to cross from one building to another on a tightrope while pushing a wheelbarrow.
“Do you believe I can do it?”
“Sure. You’ve done a lot of things like this.”
“But do you believe it?”
“I want to believe.” She definitely didn’t want to report about the other alternative.
“But do you believe it?”
“I guess I do believe.”
“But do you believe it enough to trust me by getting in the wheelbarrow?”

I think this story resonates with me today because I have to get in the wheelbarrow. Every morning I’ve been getting up and praying, praising, and giving thanks using the Word of God.
I feel so close to the Promised Land, and I definitely BELIEVE in the Promised Land, but I haven’t gotten in the wheelbarrow.
How to Believe
Believing for me is the easy part. All I have to do is to keep investing in the Truth until God’s Truth becomes my default.
I pray the Word every morning.
I read the Word every day.
I study the Word throughout each week.
I learn from others through church and teachings.
I know it through experience – my own and others – so I believe it.

Learning to Trust
Trust is a different issue.
I know God is all-powerful, but a safety net would make the journey way easier.
Several years ago, I had an opportunity to visit the Alligator Farm in St. Augustine, Florida. It was not my first choice of location to visit, but I was with a group. Mob rule won that day.
Anyone who knows me – or follows my social media feed where my “friend” Steve thrives in keeping me up-to-date about the enemy movements (AKA torcher me with alligator videos), you know that alligators are not my favorite creature.
It shouldn’t surprise you then, that I was not thrilled to be visiting a place dedicated to that very creature. When we crossed the farm, which is really just a murky, mess of water and weeds where you know they are lurking like that crocodile in the cartoon version of Peter Pan, I walked on the nails.
I believed that the pier we were on was going to stay up, but just in case my back up plan was to be on the sections with the most wood. By walking on the sections with the nails, I was choosing the most secure spot that existed.
So, I believe God, but I still want to walk on the nails.
Getting in the Wheelbarrow
When my husband and I first decided that we were going all in – no more giving in to the world’s way of doing things – we agreed that we were okay with letting everything go. “Just sell it all.”
I started sorting through closets, boxes, and drawers, determined to let go of everything I didn’t Use or honor. I even set up a Facebook page to sell what I sorted.
That lasted a couple of weeks, and when nobody showed interest, I lost interest.
Today, I got in the wheelbarrow – well, I started getting in. I reached out to an estate company with the idea of having a living estate sell.
“Sell it all.”
I’ll be honest with you. That’s almost as scary for me as walking across the pier in the alligator farm. I don’t know what will happen. There is no way to know for certain what’s on the other side.
But we’ve sold our property after the insurance company didn’t hold up their end of the contract and we weren’t able to rebuild.
And we sold our extra car so that we only have one insurance payment.
All that’s left is the stuff.
If I’m going to get in the wheelbarrow, I’m pretty sure there’s not room to carry all of that.

It Requires Obedience
Living out the abundant life goes deeper than believing and trusting. I have to take the intentional actions to obey.
And it probably won’t look right to the world. It definitely won’t look normal.
Think of the priest at the front of the group carrying the Ark across the flooding Jordan. He had to step into the flood waters before they parted. The one at the front had to believe, trust, AND obey.
The others just had to believe, trust, and follow 😀
Or imagine being one of the Children of Israel facing the Walls of Jerico – the same walls that had never been defeated or taken. And your leader says, “We are going to take this city.”
“How?”
“By walking around it.”
“What now?”
They had to believe, trust, and obey. If they had stayed at the camp and just believed God would do what He said He would do and even trusted in His ability to do it (after all, they had crossed the Red Sea and the flooding Jordan – just to mention a few of the miraculous they encountered), but they didn’t do what they were told to do, then they wouldn’t have received the results God promised.
God said. God did. Will I?
Choosing to Get in the Wheelbarrow
I have to get in the wheelbarrow. I’ve prayed about it until I believe it. I’ve kept a record of God’s amazing greatness until I trust Him. Now I have to be willing to go all in and to show my all in with the intentional actions of getting in the wheelbarrow.

What is your wheelbarrow and are you believing and trusting enough to get in?
