The day after my mom died, I had people hugging me telling me the pain would catch up to me and I would cry.

They were wrong.

The pain had already hit me. I knew I wouldn’t have a chance to talk to her here on this Earth again. I wouldn’t have a chance to hug her here on this Earth again.

They had seen my smile and heard my laughter and stories and thought I was not dealing with the loss.

But I had joy – and not just because her name was Joy. I had joy knowing where she had gone and that one day when I was no longer on this Earth, I would see her again.

Joy is not a lack of pain. It is a grasp on hope THROUGH the pain.

Hold tight to joy and joy will help see you through.
