Yesterday Is Gone: 5 Reasons You Can’t Fix It
Yesterday is gone.
I know, that sounds silly to say. But how many days have I wasted replaying what happened in my yesterday?
#QuoteoftheDay
Yesterday
is not yours
to fix!
– Kathryn Lang

What’s Gone is Gone
You can’t change the past. Time machines exist only in science fiction, and even the Doctor tells you that you can’t mess with the timeline.
Yesterday is gone. It is no longer yours to fix.
You have today, and if you are going to do the most with today, then you have to let go of the past.
Yesterday is Not Yours to Fix
Yesterday is gone – quit replaying it.
Yesterday is not today – and today is all you have to work with.
What if and if only (and all their friends) won’t turn back time.
The past is only good for forgiving and forgetting.
Looking behind makes it impossible to look ahead.
Digging In Deeper to the Truth
First, yesterday is gone. Isaiah 43 tells us not to even remember the former things or to consider the things of old. God is doing a new thing. And that new thing is in today. 2 Corinthians 5 tells us to remember that the old has passed away.
Second, yesterday is not today – and THIS is the day that the Lord has made – that’s from Psalm 118. Today IS the day!
Third, what if and if only don’t turn back time, and focusing on them will steal the time you still have.
Fourth, the past is only good for forgiving and forgetting.
Fifth, looking behind makes it impossible to look ahead. Philippians 3 tells us to forget what lies behind so we can look forward. Luke 9:62 says you can’t put your hand on the plow AND look behind.
How much time, energy, and resources have been wasted trying to make yesterday different, without any success? But no matter how hard we try or how much we invest, we can’t rewrite what was.
Don’t waste today trying to fix yesterday. Let it go!

Your post calls two quotes to my mind.
“I do not think much of a man who is not wiser today than he was yesterday.” – Abraham Lincoln
“Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. The important thing is not to stop questioning.”
-Albert Einstein
Your only competition is the person in the mirror and who they were yesterday. Be better today.
