My Favorite Life Lessons and Quotes from the Dr. Seuss Books

Dr Seuss

You do not like them. So you say. Try them! Try them! And you may. Try them and you may, I say.” Sam, “Green Eggs and Ham”

You have to be willing to try because in trying you discover unexpected things that you are good at, that you can joy, or that will lead you closer to where you are designed to be.

Now here is the Z You can’t see,” said the Cat. “And I bet you can’t guess what he has in his hat.” The Cat in the Hat, “The Cat in the Hat Comes Back”

Sometimes, in the smallest, most unexpected places, we can discover the “voom” we need to break through.

Narrator, “The Sneetches”

Everyone is unique but everyone is worth the space and the effort. The day that we can all learn that lesson will be the day we stop being tricked by the Fix-it-Up Chappie.

I’ll pick up the hook. You will see something new. Two things. And I call them Thing One and Thing Two. These Things will not bite you. They want to have fun.”
The Cat, “The Cat in the Hat”

Be wary. Cat’s baring gifts can cause more trouble than good. And just because Things won’t bite you and want to have fun does not mean they will bring positive things into your life.

But a host, above all, must be nice to his guests.”
From “Thidwick the Moose

I meant what I said and I said what I meant . . . and elephant’s faithful one hundred percent.” Horton, “Horton Hatches the Egg”

Do what you say you will do. It may not be convenient. Others may not understand. But when you are faithful and true it will be reflected back on you in a positive way.

The fun words of Dr. Seuss have delighted my family for years. I always enjoyed listening to my husband read to my children, creating a unique voice for each character. And hidden in the rhymes, the fun, and the voices were messages of hope, possibility, and purpose.

If you are willing to look, you can find your inspiration in more places than you can imagine.

Be blessed,
