Define a Finish
If you don’t know where you’re going then how will you know when you get there?
If you don’t know where to stop then you can’t know when to stop.
You need to define your finish line – and you need to make it specifically yours – so you can get across the finish line.
If you don’t define your finish then you either waste your time running in circles or you give someone else the power to define your finish for you.
No matter how much time and effort you put into going, if you don’t know where you are going you might as well be on a hamster wheel.
Make it worth your efforts and investments by defining your finish.

Take some time to think about where you want to go. Write it out in a two to three sentence vision.

Focusing on a few elements can help with you are trying to define your finish.
- Start with your perfect day – what does it look like and how does it feel?

Create your perfect job description – what would be your activities and responsibilities?

Define success – what would it mean to you to be a success and how will success look?

List your benefits – what will you get from crossing the finish line or even as you are moving in that direction?

Set out your vision – write out a statement that reflects all that you have gathered.
If you are going to get there, you have to know where your there is – and you can only know where your there is if you take the time to define your finish.
