Though of the Day – Netflix is a Vampire
Thought of the Day, April 10, 2017 – Netflix is a Vampire
Netflix sucks the life out of me, therefore it must be a vampire.”
I invited Netflix into my home. Maybe that was my first mistake, but I didn’t know.
It lulled me into complacency with its many options, its ready recommendations, and its consideration of my inability to click the remote (it just keeps on playing episodes for me).
My comfort and my convenience were the top of its concerns – or so I believed.
The other day I woke up having lost an entire day. My neck was sore and I had not energy. I remembered having a plan for the day, but then Netflix had beckoned and I had responded. It was in this moment of clarity that I realized the truth. Netflix is a vampire.
Does anyone have any garlic?
It would be nice if Netflix was a vampire and it was responsible for my lost days. The truth is I make a choice not to do more (or to do any) and settle into waste away the time. If it wasn’t with Netflix then it would be with the games on my phone or the endless feeds on my computer.
The best way to keep the vampires from sucking the life of out of me is to choose to do something with the time that I have.
The best way to keep the vampires from sucking the life of out of me is to choose to do something with the time that I have. There will always be something trying to keep me from moving forward but the real challenge is getting beyond me.
