Define Your Success with 5 Simple Clarity Wins
Have you taken the time to define your success?
If you don’t take that time, then you won’t know what success looks like and what steps you need to take to get there. Or worse, you’ll hand over the right to define success to someone who doesn’t know your heartseed.
We have unique paths to walk, and when we allow someone else to dictate our steps, then we end up in the ditch – or worse.
The ditch is not a fun place to be.
Your success is defined by what you consider a win.
You Get to Define Your Success
One of the biggest breakthroughs in my purpose journey was realizing that I get to define what success means for me.
Not what THEY say. Not what a degree says. Not what the world shouts on social media.
Success, real success, has to come from the inside out. It’s the truth of my heartseed that is nurtured and grown into my possibilities.
Unique to me. Unique for me.
Anything outside that uniqueness is less than what I am created to live.

If you want
to live your best life
start by defining
what that is.

Why You Need to Define Your Win
Nobody knows your heart like you. Nobody wants to know your heart like you.
I recently learned that “self-driving cars” aren’t really self-driving. There is someone who is remotely driving the car.
I found out because someone was suggesting it as a possible job for me. But I told them my husband doesn’t even want me driving in the car we have – forget remote driving.
And I’m not sure I would want to ride in a car that’s being remotely driven because there is no way for someone to remotely be aware of everything going on around the car.
But there are people who will get in a remotely driven car, and there are people who will get in a remotely driven life.
And either can lead you to a place you didn’t want to go – definitely in the life journey.
You need to drive, and you do that by taking the time to define your life.
What Defining Your Win Looks Like
You define your success, your win, and your path to get there.

Determine What You WANT
What’s your perfect day? What lights you up?
Map it out. Write it in detail. Dream big, bold, and maybe even a little quirky.
Because if you don’t know what you want, you’ll never recognize it when you get there.
Define What You CAN Do
Make a list. Or better yet, create a wall of sticky notes with everything you can do.
You’ll be amazed at the breadth of your talents and possibilities.
This isn’t about ego—it’s about clarity. The more you know your capabilities, the better equipped you are to choose your best steps forward.
Decide What You WILL Do
Just because you CAN doesn’t mean you SHOULD.
Use the “LOVE love” test: If you don’t LOVE love it, maybe it doesn’t belong in your current season.
The things you choose to focus on should energize you and align with your purpose.
Detail What You WON’T Do
What are your non-negotiables? What boundaries protect your energy and your values?
Write them down. Own them.
Having a clear list of your no-go zones gives you strength to say NO without guilt.
Detangle from the SHOULD
Release the external expectations.
Shoulds aren’t your truth. Shoulds are someone else’s baggage dressed up as responsibility.
Let go of the “you should” statements that have tangled you up and kept you from fully stepping into YOU.
Be YOUnique!

Why It Matters
When you don’t define your win, someone else will. And it likely won’t fit.
You get frustrated. You lose focus. You end up off course.
But when you know your win, you move with intention. You make decisions with clarity. You celebrate progress that actually matters to you.
My Win
Recently, I was sharing a day-in-the-life with my husband: coaching calls, podcast recording, writing, meals with my family, time in the Word.
“That sounds like a perfect day,” he said.
And it hit me. It WAS.
That’s my win. That’s success. That’s the life I’m building.
You Can Do This
So how about you?
- What’s your perfect day?
- What are you willing to do?
- What will you stop doing?
Define your win and then start building your life around it.
Because when you define your win, you set a course toward purpose, passion, and peace.
