Three Keys for Building a Writing Business
Building a writing career turned out to be work. The image of me sitting around just writing amazing words flew out the window the moment I realized that getting paid had to be a priority. I had to change the way that I was coming at the writing and begin to view it as a business not just as activity.
Building a Writing Business
-
1. Start with a plan. I encourage others to create a writing plan he same steps that are used for building a business plan. I encouraged others but never took the time to actually sit down and get all of the pieces together. It was time to stop just encouraging others and get things in order for my own writing career.
2. Take one step at a time. There are SO many directions for building a writing career. Trying to go all of those directions at once will split me in too many directions to give any one area enough attention. One step will give me focus and building up that one step will give me a foundation for the next step.
3. Build a persistent habit of consistency. Write and then write some more and pretty soon you have a lot of written material to share. Building a business takes time and energy but even that will not create success if it is not pursued with persistent consistency.
I am building a business and not just writing words. Taking a new look at my journey has given me some fresh ideas for building a writing career and I am pursing them with boldness.
Maybe it is time for you to step back and take a fresh look at your writing journey and see what you can see.
