Quote of the Day – Make Way – March 28 2017
Quote of the day for Tuesday, March 28, 2017
Write – not just to tell a story. Write to make way for people.”
People often ask me why I write – and I joke that it is all about giving the voices a place to live.
In some ways, it is a joke, but in some ways it is true. I have a lot of stories that I want to share.
I attended the Mountain Valley Writers Conference in Lake Guntersville State Park and was challenged to make the stories more than stories. Gene Hendrix encouraged us to see the stories as opportunities to make a way, touch a heart, or provide the inspiration that others might need.
C.S. Lewis’s Narnia books were more than stories for me. Each book opened up a world of hope and imagination that carried me through many rough times.
The Little Prince was more than just an imaginary figure in a children’s book. He was comfort and courage when a loved one went on without me.
Stories are not just stories – they are words (and worlds) of possibilities.
Write – because the story will never be told unless you write it. But write to make way for others to continue the journey.
