Dare to live your way and you will find that the way you are living doesn’t make much sense to everyone else. They won’t understand why or how and they definitely will not jump on board the your way bandwagon.
But that’s okay. You aren’t designed to follow the pack. You are designed to live your way because your way is unique to you. And your way isn’t their way anyway.
I have to confess, I’ve rarely been caught in the rut of doing things the way folks expected. Doing things the way they are expected leaves you stuck in the same ole same ole. Several years ago, I wrote out the verse from Acts 17:6 and placed it above that year’s #WhiteBoardofWorldDomination.
I like the idea of turning the world upside down, or I did like the idea at one time anyway. Marching to the beat of my own drummer, knocking down the walls of the box, or basically going against the expected flow were my ordinary.
This year, we are investing in turning the world “upside right.” It was my husband’s suggestion to make the change. He’s so good with change.
Just because you’ve been given a label or a limitation doesn’t mean you can’t climb to higher places!
Turning the World Upside Right
Keith and I are invested in this journey together – not the ordinary and expected way of the world, but the blessed, exceedingly abundant path of God.
It started in 2020 with the tornado recovery. Keith and I agreed that we wouldn’t make any decisions based out of fear. It’s amazing what a different turn your life begins to take when your directions are founded in peace and calm.
In 2022, we again began to look at how things were progressing and decided that if we wanted radical changes in our lives then we had to make radical moves. And the more we focused on that idea, the more we realized that it didn’t make sense.
Keith said recently that it can’t make “sense” because it’s beyond sensory understanding.
We recognize that we are called to be in this world, not of this world, and so we began shifting our perspective to see things from a beyond worldly focus.
And in 2023, we are amping it up to a whole new level – which is a little bit scary, a little bit exciting, and definitely invigorating because we know that “it’s never been done this way before” and it’s “not the way we are expected to do it” and that we are walking a path that is fully, completely, and daringly focused on God.
I started working through the Focus Folder that will help me create the BALANCE I know I need to live this new bold and intentional life. The #WhiteBoardofWorldDomination started this journey of defining the four areas of balance:
The Focus Folder allows for daily harnessing of the focus and review for accountability so that I stay on track to reach my BIG DREAM goals.
Breaking Down the Balance
Pursuit of Aspirations
Aspiration goals focus on work or profession. It’s pursuing what you want to be when you grow up. But in this iteration, it is all about daring to look beyond expectations (your own expectations, or expectations of the world or the other people around you). What will you dare to become in 2023?
A Habit of Stewardship
Stewardship goals are all about how you care for the things already in your possession. Are you being a good and faithful steward over all that you have?
Applications of Tranformations
You are called to live a life of joy and abundance, and to live the life well. A strong heart and soul, a healthy body, and a growing and learning mind are all necessary to create that life of exceeding abundance. Are you living your best for life?
Formation of Fellowship
Family, friends, and new relationships are all part of our fellowship circle. We are called to first love God and then through His Love to love others. How invested are you in the formation and strengthening of fellowship?
Before I began planning for 2023, I took an audit of my time. Even though it was during the holidays, I still found it highly enlightening. I even enjoyed the chance to fill in a pie chart with colors so I can see at a glance how I am investing my time.
Although it opened my eyes, it also forced me to be accountable to what I was doing each day – which led me to realize that I am my strongest when I am accountable. Although my husband LOVES the idea of holding me accountable, ultimately I am at my best when I hold myself accountable to my BIG DREAM. The daily Time Audit in the Focus Folder is the perfect way to see this through.
How will you find your balance in the New Year? How will you find your balance tomorrow? The great thing about finding your balance is that it is yours – your way, your focus, YOUR BALANCE.
