“You are a cheerleader for God.” The words came to me from a friend telling me what gifts and talents he saw in me. I was looking for indications of my purpose and path.
His words meant a lot to me that day. I needed to know that my efforts were not wasted and that others benefited from what I shared. But he knew my goals and my hopes and I felt that maybe those ideas had swayed his words just a little.
Yesterday I was told that I was gifted to encourage and this time the words came from someone who knows nothing of those dreams that I have laid out in my plan. She spoke directly from her heart about her own situation and I was just a side note.
This morning I mulled over the words she shared and the walk I have been on. The first comment of being a cheerleader for God returned. It would be amazing if millions of copies of “Practical Proverbs” poured off of the shelves. That would tell the world that I AM a writer and my words to matter to someone.
Being a cheerleader or an encourager to one person should be enough. It is not about how the world perceives my walk, but about my obedience to that walk. As long I continue to put one step in front of the other and walk the path that I am led to walk then the words will be where they need to be when they need to be there.
Knowing that I am doing what I have been gifted to do should be the most important part of everything that I do.
