Fear or Faith – One Choice Flips the World Upside Right
Fear or Faith?
It should be a simple choice.
But fear is so loud and so demanding that it clouds the truth.
It can be a real fear grown from hurts.
It can be a fake fear grown up from distortions.
As long as the fear holds your focus, it’s real enough to keep you from pursuing your YOUnique design.
#QuoteoftheDay
You can’t
hide in fear
AND
walk in FAITH.
– Kathryn Lang

Hiding from Fear
I’ve tried to hide from my fear . . . of cameras. It was easier in a time when everyone didn’t carry a camera in their pockets.
Worse. Now everyone’s walking around with a camera that can broadcast your awkward angle to the entire internet before you’ve had coffee.
During the kids’ spring celebration at church, the pastor’s wife determined to take my picture – even though I was adamant about not having my picture taken – and she chased me all around the event until I ended up hiding in the car for the rest of the day.
My fear held me back (and meant I missed out on watching my kids have fun).
That’s what fear does. It steals joy, possibilities, and bold purpose living and leaves you hiding in the car instead of enjoying the event.
Faith Forces Fear to Fade
You have to grow up faith to fade the fears.
But how?
- Be honest WITH YOURSELF.
- Dig around the roots of fear.
- Accept the Truth of where you are.
- Repeat the Truth of WHO you are.
- Meet with people that FEED your Faith not your fear.
The more you feed your faith, the harder it is for fear to hold on (or get in the way of your purpose pursuit).
Purpose Over Fear
If God tells you, “I’ve planned something for you,” how bold do I have to be to say, “Sorry, God, but there might be cameras.”
If I am going to walk out God’s calling in my life and for my life, then I’m going to have to face the fear and push through. And FAITH is the only way through.
Fear is a liar. It can’t hold a candle to the truth.
Do you have a fear that is overwhelming your journey?
Do you know a faith point that will defeat that fear?
FEED your faith – when you feed your faith, fear will fade.
Fear or FAITH – it’s your choice, and the one choice will make all the difference in the world.
Yep! There can be only one.
Because you can’t hide in fear AND walk in faith.

Your turn – how do you fade that fear?

As Zig tells us, fear is just False Evidence Appearing Real. Similarly, worry is time spent contemplating things we fear – that are not real and nearly all of which will never happen! So why do we waste so much time on such useless activities? There are many reasons spanning our upbringing, knowing (or not knowing) what we believe and why we believe it, our personal sense of security, and our own confidence in our character, competence, compassion, communication, and commitment. Worry is a learned activity. You can unlearn it, but only if you seek to identify it, call it out, build your character and confidence, and work actively to become the best possible version of yourself. Ask Kathryn. She knows all about such things.
Thank you so much for sharing, Tom. Fear is such a liar but OH SO GOOD at it! And we only recognize its lies when we are invested in the truth!
