How to Get More by Doing One More Thing

Doing one more thing can set you up for future success. It can also be the catalyst you need to get more done today. Either way, one more thing will get you closer to done than you would have been before you completed the task.

Doing one more thing

I procrastinated, and I did it on purpose. It wasn’t like I stumbled into the CBS stream channel and accidentally kept watching. I watched because I wanted to watch – but I also watched because I didn’t want to get up and do what I needed to do.

If I can put it off a little longer then I won’t have to deal with it.

Unfortunately, even if I do put it off I will still have to deal with it only now I have the added pressure of not having enough time. When I know time is tight then procrastination kicks into high gear and tries to convince me to put it off a little longer. Putting it off until tomorrow means I will be able to start fresh, right?

Except now is the only time I have.

If you want to get more done, then start right now by doing one more thing.

Doing One More Thing

  • Invest 15 minutes working on one of the tasks you have not completed on your to-do list. It may be bedtime right now, but you can invest 15 minutes to get one more thing done.
  • Tackle a piece of the bigger picture. Your one more thing doesn’t have to be the full item. A little bit of the one more thing will still move you closer to the desired outcome.
  • Pick up instead of stepping over. It’s just as easy to pick up that lone sock or to pick up the pile of clothes by the door as it is to step over or around it. Sometimes it is the easiest and simplest choice to make.

  • Show, don’t tell. Telling someone else will not get it done and can cause the opposite reaction to follow. Show the value of doing to others by doing it yourself.

The only way to get more done is to do more and the best way to do more is to do just one more thing. It may not get you across the finish line, but it will move you closer to where you want to be. Don’t give up on the day. Be focused on doing one more thing.

Be blessed,
