Back in my younger days – when gas was cheaper and I had no real responsibilities – my friends and I would fill up the tank and go drive. We had no destination in mind, and when we came to an intersection we would take turns determining the direction.
We just drove.
Now that I have kids, and I’m juggling enough plates to start a catering service, I have a specific destination in mind when I pull out of the driveway. I know where I am going and even the turns I will take to get there.
I go – I follow the path to the determined destination.
Success can either be a vague idea or a determined destination.
If I want to know where I am going and why I am going then I need to take a moment and define what success looks like for me. Once I determine the destination then it will be easier for me to create the plans that will get me to that place.
