Become Uncomfortable to Move Beyond Where You Are
You have to move beyond where you are to get to where you want to be. It is simple and basic because it is all about knowing you and finding your way.
But we invest way too much time and effort trying to make it complicated to get anything done. All of our resources are invested in making it complicated instead of being invested in intentional actions.
#QuoteoftheDay
I can do what Iβve always done, but I will get what Iβve always gotten β or worse. Nothing has proven that faster than trying to re-enter the freelance writing market.
My career in writing began in 2003 when I was looking for something to supplement our income while staying home with two small boys. A friend recommended writing for forums β just fifteen words were required to help stimulate the engagement in comments. My husband reminded me that I had a BS degree so I could write 15 words about anything.
From there, I began asking for opportunities and soon had several clients that kept me busy writing content well beyond just supplementing our income.
Almost every query I sent to legitimate opportunities landed me a chance to write.
That was two decades ago. Since then, the world changed. Because everyone worked from home, everyone was βsupplementingβ their incomes with freelance opportunities. The market became saturated.
Sending out the same query in the same way with the same resume didnβt get me anything but rejection, discouragement, and enough stress to sink the Titanic.
Launching into all of my bold, a little bit impossible and a little bit scary, BIG DREAMS is to do something different than I was doing before.
The Importance of Choosing to Become Uncomfortable
It can be easy to stay where you are because you are comfortable in your uncomfortable mainly because you know that place. Stepping into new possibilities requires that you shift from what you know to what you donβt know.
That can be uncomfortable, but uncomfortable pushes you to the next level.
Stretch the muscles.
If you are going to level up, you have to stretch. Without stretching, you can get hurt. Stretching means you do a little bit more each day until you reach your goals.
Find your way.
Do what works for you because what works for you is the only plan that will get you to your end goal. The best plan THEY have for their path will only lead you astray.
Do SOMETHING.
Doing something feeds the momentum to do something else. Without some movement already happening, it takes more energy and resources to get started. Doing something will make it easier to so something more.
The only way there is to go. The only way for you to go is to go in your way. And the only way to find your way to your BIG DREAM goals is to dare to become uncomfortable enough to choose the way that will work for you.
