How to Shake Off the Noise
Shake off the noise to stay focused on what you are uniquely designed to do. People will keep talking – about her, about him, about you. Most of the time they don’t care what they say as long as they get to be the first to stay it.
If you get tangled in all their words then you will trip in walking out your uniqueness.
We are to be in this world, but not of it. That means shaking off the distractions the noise of the world creates.
Your uniqueness is beyond the comprehension of the world because it is not of this world.
Did You Hear
When I was in high school, I started a rumor about a friend of mine. I did it to prove a point, that if people thought they were hearing “breaking news” then they were going to tell everyone they could. What I discovered is that they also distorted what had been said.
What had started out as an impossible tale completely fabricated for the ears that were trying to hear what they shouldn’t soon became a nasty rumor that rippled through the school and across the county. At a time when communication was limited to landlines, the rumor spread to the neighboring school where my friend’s sister attended. Needless to say, she was not happy.
I did prove that people were talking. I also proved that I shouldn’t listen to what they said.
People are talking but that doesn’t mean I have to listen to what they are saying. Share on XLearning to Shake Off the Noise
“Your brother has to work.” I often heard this declaration from my parents when they were needing an errand run. It didn’t seem to matter to them that I sat at my desk writing while they were asking me to do something because someone else was working.
For the record, writing is work.
But the people around me struggled to see that what I was doing was work because it was something that I loved doing. They had set up rules about what work would look like. Their rules even crossed over into what they determined I should be doing.
When what I did when contrary to what they determined then they ignored what I did.
They still do. THEY are like that. And THEY run the world.
In order to stay focused on my words, I had to find ways to shake off the noise of the ones around me.
The only way to release the grip of their talk is to know your uniqueness. The more you know why you are doing what you are doing and how you can uniquely do it, the harder it becomes for their words to hold on to you and to wear you down into following the way they demand.
Know your truth
Invest in understanding your unique design. It will be different from everyone else because you are different.
Tell your truth
Tell others that you trust and that support you about what you discover. TIP: ONLY share once you have settled your truth deep in your heart.
Live your truth
Take steps to walk out your unique design. People will look. People will talk. Walk anyway.

Living in the World
We are in this world where we are constantly bombarded with the words it spews out and the people doing the spewing. It is impossible to live in this world and not have content with others (besides, I’ve seen the movie and it doesn’t end well for you – THE NET with Sandra Bullock)
We are called to be a light in this world and that means we have to walk in it. But when we know our uniqueness then we can walk in confidence in that unique design. The bolder we walk the more we shake off the noise of the world.
